In 2002, our founder Susan Fraser became aware of the need for a standard in the senior home care industry. As an senior home care agency executive in southern California, she discovered through observation and networking, that several so-called agencies were offering sub-standard care. She found that agencies unknowingly are putting felony convicted caregivers in people's homes. Furthermore, she found unregistered companies, without insurances and background checks, providing care to seniors. This is a serious threat that in 2002, Susan Fraser decided to fight against. She began Home Care Giver's Accreditation of American LLC (HCAOA). Within two years she had grasped the attention of the industry with over 70 accreditations in 14 states. At the beginning of 2007, Shield Accreditation was created. Our more focused strategy serves senior home care agencies. But more importantly, we serve the seniors of America.
